Spider-Man and the Uncanny X-Men in 3D Anaglyph by xmancyclops Spider-Man and the Uncanny X-Men in 3D Anaglyph by xmancyclops
Art by Todd McFarlane. 3D by me. Use red/cyan 3D glasses to view it. The 3D is fan-made.

Personnal comment : For a long time, I've been using Bas-Relief for my conversions. I've always been satisfied with this software except for one thing : my 3Ds didn't "pop up" out of the screen. But yesterday, I've found a way to make it pop up with another software I already knew: Stereo Photo Maker. Please leave your impressions about what you think about my new method.

As always, I like your works and this one is no exception. However, your reasoning on how to make your image "pop out" more causes, in this case, a classic stereoscopic error, called a "window violation", or WV for short. In this picture, the window is placed at the same level as the "Storm" figure. Nothing wrong with that, but there are also objects at closer distance that are now cut off by the frame. If you consider the frame as a stereoscopic object too, you'll see that the only right way to solve this problem is to bring the window back forward again.
The centre figures can be brought forward "through the window", but I'm afraid that then you will have to start making use of the methods as I described in my journal...

Good luck!

Thanks for the fave ! I just did some research about what you call a "window violation". What's about correcting the depthmap for the characters that are cut off by the window ? The problem is that they are to close but only spidey and wolvie had to "pop out" so correcting the depthmap by checking the conversion "in real time" as the drawing of the depthmap progresses could help to avoid the problem. I don't know if I'm clear in my explainations.

Correcting the map for those figures at the side affects also the surrounding objects as their depths are relative to each other. I see no solution in that. Just move the frame forward again in SPM to floor level. Then find a way to bring Spidey and the Wolverine forward, by either changing your depth map, or cutting them loose and treat them as separate layers. I think the latter means a new way of working, but the results will be more effective.

I think you're right. One night, I was dreaming about practicizing your method while I was asleep. It was a crazy dream. :-) But I'm seriously thinking about it and how to make it work. It will change everything I've done until now if I succeed.

You shouldn't be working while asleep ;-)
